When you create a technician profile, you provide your license number and trade category. TradeHire queries the Maine Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation database in real time and validates your license status, type, and authority level. This happens automatically — you do not need to submit documents.
No. By default, employers can only see your verified credentials, authority level, years of experience, availability, and preferred region. Your name, phone number, and email are never displayed until you explicitly choose to connect with a specific employer.
From your account settings, you can toggle your visibility off at any time. Your profile will no longer appear in employer searches until you re-enable it. This does not delete your profile or your verification data.
TradeHire currently supports Electrician, Limited Electrician, Plumber, Oil Burner Technician, and Propane & Natural Gas. We are working on expanding to additional trade categories.
This can happen if your license was recently renewed, issued, or updated. State database records can lag by days or weeks. If verification fails, contact our support team and we will manually review your credentials while your license status is confirmed.
After creating an employer account, you can use the Search Trades page to filter verified technicians by license type, authority level, region, availability, and years of experience. Results show anonymized profiles with verified credentials.
From a technician's profile, you can send a connection request. The technician receives a notification and can choose to accept or decline. If they accept, our masked communication system enables you to call or message without either party exposing their real contact information.
After a technician accepts your connection, you can propose interview time slots from within the platform. The technician selects a time, and both parties receive a calendar invite. The platform sends automated SMS reminders before the interview and tracks completion.
Yes. Employers can post trade-specific job listings with license requirements, authority level, location, and compensation range. Matched technicians can then view and respond to your listing.
We query state databases regularly, but license status can change between our data refreshes. For final hiring decisions, we recommend verifying license status directly with the Maine OPLR. Our verification is a strong, automated signal — not a real-time legal guarantee.
After creating a property owner account, navigate to your dashboard and click 'Post a Project.' Describe the work needed, select a trade category, set your budget range, and upload photos. Your first post each month is free; additional posts are $5 each.
Up to 6 verified professionals can respond to each project. This keeps competition healthy while preventing your inbox from being flooded with low-quality responses.
Not automatically. Your contact information is shared only after a contractor unlocks your project lead. You can also communicate through the platform's messaging system before sharing personal details.
You can browse all homeowner projects for free. When you find a project you want to bid on, you unlock it by paying 1% of the project's low estimate (minimum $5). This gives you the homeowner's full contact details so you can reach out directly.
No. Contractor accounts are completely free. There are no monthly fees, no subscriptions, and no commissions. You only pay when you choose to unlock a lead.
TradeHire supports roofers, general contractors, painters, excavators, masons, siding installers, window/door specialists, insulation contractors, landscapers, concrete workers, demolition companies, and more.
Upload a home inspection report (PDF) and our AI extracts all deficiencies, organizes them by trade (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.), estimates repair costs based on current Maine market data, and prioritizes items by urgency and safety.
Repair packages are shareable summaries of inspection deficiencies with cost estimates. You can send them to buyers, sellers, or listing agents. Each package links to verified contractors on TradeHire who can handle the specific repairs.
The agent plan is $10/month and includes unlimited inspection report uploads, AI analysis, and shareable repair packages. You can cancel anytime.
