Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

TradeHire is operated by TradeHire, based in Portland, Maine. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your personal data when you use the TradeHire platform.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: When you register, we collect your email address, account type (technician or employer), and a password.
  • Profile Information: Technicians provide license numbers, trade categories, years of experience, and availability preferences. Employers provide company name, contact information, and role requirements.
  • Verification Data: We query the Maine Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation database using the license number you provide to verify your credentials. We store the result of this verification, not the raw query.
  • Communications: When you use our masked communication system, we log connection metadata (call occurred, duration, timestamp) but do not record the content of calls unless explicitly disclosed.
  • Usage Data: Standard web analytics including pages visited, session duration, and feature usage — used to improve the platform.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate and improve the TradeHire platform.
  • To verify license credentials against state licensing databases.
  • To match technicians with relevant employer opportunities based on preferences.
  • To facilitate masked communications between platform participants.
  • To send platform notifications, scheduling reminders, and match alerts.
  • To generate aggregate, anonymized market intelligence data.
  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Technician Privacy Protections

  • Technician identities — including name, phone number, and email address — are never displayed to employers without explicit consent from the technician.
  • Your verified credentials (license type, authority, status) are visible to authenticated employers. Your identity is not.
  • You can pause your profile visibility at any time from your account settings.
  • When you choose to connect with an employer, you control how much identifying information to share and when.

4. Data Sharing

  • Service Providers: We use third-party services including Twilio (masked communications), and cloud infrastructure providers to operate the platform. These providers are bound by data processing agreements.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of TradeHire or its users.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, user data may transfer to the new entity under the same privacy commitments.
  • Advertising: The Meta advertising pixel reports your visit to Meta so we can show our ads to people who have already been to TradeHire. We do not send Meta your name, email address, or license details through the pixel.
  • Advertising measurement: When you complete a signup or a payment we also report that from our servers to Meta and to Google, so we can tell which ads are working. Where those reports include an email address or phone number it is scrambled into an irreversible code first. We never send the plain value, and we never send your license details.
  • We do not sell personal data to data brokers.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active.
  • You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
  • Verification records are retained for audit purposes for up to 3 years after account deletion.
  • Aggregate, anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely.

6. Your Rights

  • Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can update most account information directly from your profile settings.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and personal data.
  • Portability: You can request your data in a portable format.
  • To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

7. Cookies and Tracking

  • We use essential cookies to maintain session state and platform functionality.
  • We use analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used.
  • We use the Meta advertising pixel so that people who have visited TradeHire can be shown our ads on Facebook and Instagram. You can opt out of this through your Facebook ad preferences or your browser settings.
  • Some of the same advertising measurement is sent directly from our servers rather than from your browser, so blocking scripts in your browser does not stop it. It carries only scrambled identifiers and the fact that a signup or payment happened. Opting out through your Facebook or Google ad preferences still applies.
  • You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings.

8. Behavioural Analytics

  • We record the actions you take on TradeHire — pages viewed, signup steps reached, jobs opened, applications started, payments completed — so we can see where the platform is confusing and fix it.
  • Each browser is given a random identifier stored in a cookie. It is not tied to your name or email until you sign in, and it is never shared with anyone outside TradeHire.
  • We record which marketing channel brought you to the site (for example a search engine, an ad, or an email). We derive that from the referring site and the link you arrived on, and we store only the channel name, never the full link.
  • Behavioural records are deleted automatically after 180 days.
  • Our own staff can look up an individual account’s activity for support and fraud investigations. Every such lookup is written to our internal audit log.
  • Deleting your account deletes your behavioural records along with it.
