Plumber work in Fairfield, Maine
Plumbers install and repair water supply, drain, waste and vent piping, fixtures, water heaters and the piping that serves them. Fairfield is in Somerset County, whose county seat is Skowhegan and whose population was 50,477 in 2020. TradeHire shows postings at county level, so this page lists every plumber opening in Somerset County, not only those in Fairfield itself.
25.6% of the housing units in Somerset County were built before 1950 and the median home was built in 1978 (ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates). Older buildings mean galvanized and cast-iron piping reaching the end of its life, and Maine winters make frozen-pipe repairs and well-and-septic work a regular part of the job outside the sewered towns.
- A paper mill that Scott Paper opened in Skowhegan in 1976 is now owned by Sappi Fine Paper.
- Redington-Fairview General Hospital is in Skowhegan and Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital is in Pittsfield.
